POLICE who saw a man drive past them at speed found a woman behind the wheel when they stopped the vehicle shortly after.
Blackburn magistrates heard Stewart Craig immediately admitted he was the driver.
Haig, 34, of Kingsway, Lower Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £500 with £85 costs and £50 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 14 months. The court heard he gave a breathalyser reading of 47 against the legal limit of 35.
Haig told police his "head was mashed" because his ex had stopped him seeing his children.
Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said her client had been stopped from seeing his children and had been working hard to pay off a significant amount of child support.
"He said he had a few cans of lager and it was a moment of madness to get behind the wheel," said Mrs Dickinson-Jones.
