TAKEN in 1973, this photograph shows a new Mothercare store taking shape in Bolton town centre.
The building on Victoria Square, costing £500,000, was to be the largest store the children’s wear company had opened in Lancashire.
Most of the steel framework - supplied by Bolton company Booth’s - was in place when this picture was taken in September and everything was on schedule for the store to open in 1974.
Note the fountains in the precinct on either side of the war memorial.
