THE MP for South Swindon urged charities and good causes in the area to apply for funding from trusts backed by People's Postcode Lottery players.

Applications are open until Wednesday August. 19 and organisations can apply for grants between £500 and £20,000 from one of four trusts.

The Postcode Neighbourhood Trust will help good causes affected by Covid-19. Groups looking to adapt or expand services, or to increase their resilience should apply.

The People’s Postcode Trust funds projects aimed at promoting human rights, combatting discrimination and helping to prevent poverty.

The Postcode Community Trust supports initiatives to improve health and wellbeing in communities, including those that look to reduce isolation. And the trust supports projects that increase participation in arts and recreation.

The Postcode Local Trust is for groups looking to increase community access to outdoor space, improve biodiversity and sustainability or combat climate change.

Robert Buckland MP said: “The work of good causes in South Swindon during these difficult times has been nothing short of inspirational – the amount of good they do for the most vulnerable in our community cannot be overstated.

“I encourage any interested organisations to take the eligibility quiz then apply for the trust that best fits their needs. Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have already raised over £500 million for good causes and I would love to see some more successful applicants from South Swindon.”

A minimum of 32 per cent of each ticket goes directly to charities. Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £500 million for 7,500 good causes across Britain and internationally since 2005.

Head of charities at People's Postcode Lottery Laura Chow said: “Over the past few months we’ve seen the important role that grassroots good causes play in communities throughout Britain.

“I’m delighted that players are able to support these organisations with this funding opportunity. Nearly £7 million will be awarded in grants, so I urge smaller, local good causes and groups to visit the trust websites, see where their project would best fit and get applying.”
