A FOOD bonanza is coming to Prestwich as the town is set to get three new eateries.

A hip new bagel shop and a Latin-infused BBQ joint are making a move to the town, while a popular kosher restaurant is set to relocate to a new home — all along Bury New Road.

Iconic Northern Quarter outlet, Eat New York, is setting up shop in Sedgley at the former chip shop.

Renowned as one of the coolest places to grab a bite in Manchester, the diner is famous for its mouthwatering bagels, burgers and hotdogs stuffed with tasty fillings, such as hot salt beef, deep fried mozzarella, tempura aubergine and buttermilk fried chicken.

The eatery started out as a street food outfit, before settling down in Manchester, and makes regular appearances at food events in its bright, New York taxi-inspired van.

A spokesman for the restaurant said: "We are delighted to announce that Eat New York has a new home in Prestwich. A place that showed us frankly overwhelming support when we needed it most.

"We cannot wait to open our new site here. Expect all of our best food and so much more, with deliveries to town, collections and a cool spot to hang out and grab a beer."

Up in Prestwich Village, the Gorge restaurant and bar is hoping to bring a Latin American buzz to the high street.

Owners say the eatery will offer a 'BBQ-enthused flame grilled bar and bistro with a vibe'.

Work is currently underway to convert the former financial offices next to the Insta Chicken takeaway.

Laurence Juster, of Michael Herwald & Co, said: “Gorge will bring to Prestwich a taste and vibe from a corner of the world not yet seen by local residents."

There is also a fresh change for one of Prestwich's most popular and longest standing kosher outlets.

JS Restaurant closed its doors in Kings Road for the final time on July 21.

It is now relocating to the former KFC premises on the corner of Bury New Road and George Street.

The outfit has been feeding hungry locals since 1965 and was taken over by 44-year-old Michael Issler 14 years ago, from previous owner David Gertler.

However, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic have prompted Mr Issler to downsize.

Dubbed 'JS On The Corner', the new restaurant will serve all JS's famous favourites in a medium-sized indoor eating area, as well as offering a takeaway service.

Mr Issler said: "In order to be around for the community we need to change now.

"There will be a lot more footfall in the new premises and we're going to change to a more hybrid-style of restaurant.

"We'll also have a new look, but will be keeping the name — although it will have a little tweak and a slight addition."

All three restaurants are set to open soon.
