FIVE products including dog food, a manicure set, hair-clippers and a silicon baby teething toy have been recalled amid health and safety fears.

The notices have been issued by the Food Standards Agency and the Chartered Institute of Trading Standards warning consumers to return them as soon as possible.

1) Benyfit Natural Pet Food Ltd - Beef Meat Feast.

Benyfit Natural Pet Food Ltd has taken the precautionary step of recalling several types of frozen raw dog food products containing beef because the products might contain salmonella.

Among the products are the Benyfit Natural 80-10-10 Beef Meat Feast with batch codes: 046-076, 046-083, 046-093, 046-100, 047-083 and 047-100.

Also Benyfit Natural Beef & Tripe, Unique Raw Duck, Beef & Ox Recipe, Benyfit Natural Succulent Beef, Embark on Raw Natural Working Dog Food Beef Complete, New Dog Premium Beef, Unique Raw Chicken, Beef & Ox Recipe.

A statement on the Food Standards Agency said: "The products listed above might be contaminated with salmonella.

"Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause illness in humans and animals.

"The products could therefore carry a potential risk because of the presence of salmonella, either through direct handling of the pet food, or indirectly, for example from pet feeding bowls, utensils or contact with the faeces of animals.

"In humans, symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. Infected animals may not necessarily display signs of illness, but symptoms can include diarrhoea.

"If you have bought any of the above products do not use them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.

"When handling and serving raw pet food it is always advised to clean utensils and feeding bowls thoroughly after use.

"Consumers should wash hands thoroughly after handling raw pet food, bowls, utensils or after contact with the faeces of animals.

"Raw pet food should be stored separately from any food (especially ready to eat foods). Care should be taken when defrosting to avoid cross contamination of foods and surfaces."

2) Silicone Baby Teether

The European Commission have issued the following recall for the baby teether bear.

Fears have been raised over chocking fears over injuries as the teether has 'protruding parts'.

A statement said: "A child could put the protruding parts into the mouth, which could block the airways and cause choking, or if the child falls against its face, lead to injuries.

"The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European Standard EN 71-1."

The product originated from China.

3) Platford Listing: Hair clipper set sold on Ebay

The following notice has been issued by the European Commission amid fears it can lead to burns or set on fire.

It is an electric-powered hair and body trimming set (clipper and trimmer). According to the listing, the product is supplied with a set of shaver heads, a comb, a cleaning brush and an adapter.

The statement said: "The product is advertised with a substandard adaptor for permanent use with inadequate insulation. As a result, the adaptor could overheat causing burns and or leading to fire.

"The product does not comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant national Standard BS 1363."

So far the retailer has had to remove the product from the online marketplace.

4) Kemei - Hair Clipper Set

This is a hair clipper and trimmer shaver, with a set of shaver heads and according to the listing, the product is supplied with a cleaning brush, a detachable plug, and an adapter.

The product was sold online, in particular via eBay.

However, it has been recalled by the European Commission over fears it will set on fire.

A statement said: "The product is advertised with a substandard adaptor for permanent use with inadequate insulation. As a result, the adaptor could overheat causing burns and or leading to fire.

"The product does not comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant national Standard BS 1363."

The product has been removed from online marketplace.

5) Electric Manicure Set

The Bolton News:

The European Commission have issued this appeal for the Electric nail drill/file set for manicure set which was sold by Amazon.

It is believed that there are dangers over getting an electric shock as it has 'inadequate insulation' on the adaptor.

A statement said: "A person could touch the live part of the adaptor and receive an electric shock.

"The product does not comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant national Standard BS 1363."
