POLICE are on the lookout for city centre yobs after they destroyed a bench.
Officers put out the appeal after the incident on Carlisle's Scotch Street on Saturday, about 5pm.
A spokesman for Cumbria Constabulary said: "City centre PCSO’s 5415, 5412 and 5399 are currently working alongside officers in the process of identifying a group of youths who caused criminal damage to a bench on Scotch Street in the city centre.
"All those responsible will be expected to pay a contribution to replace the bench that they damaged."
Some residents took to social media to vent their fury at the wanton vandalism.
One said: "Our punishments are far to soft and as such are no deterrent."
Another said: "It makes me sad to see the standard of society we live in today."
And another said: "Get the little toerags to pay for the full amount to replace the bench."
