A Bournemouth based drive in cinema company has announced they will begin screen films in Poole for the first time this week.

Drive-In Theatres, owned by German Events, will be showing classic films including Footloose, Mary Poppins Returns and a Grease sing-along at Farmers Palmer's Farm Park in Poole for the summer season.

The company will be celebrating their opening with four consecutive nights of films, kicking off with the 2019 live action remake of the 1941 Disney animation Dumbo on Thursday July 16 at 7.30pm.

Operations Manager Constantin Wassilev said: “This is the first time we will be doing this in Poole so we are very excited to be opening.

“We have already started our drive in cinema experience in Salisbury and the people who have come along have said that they have really enjoyed themselves and wanted to come back again.

“This is something very new for the Poole area and we hope we get lots of film enthusiasts coming along this week.”

All movies will be screened on an extra-large screen, and refreshments such as freshly made popcorn and nachos will also be on offer, with contactless payment is available.

Toilet facilities will be available on site and safe social distancing practices will apply.

Films being shown this week are Dumbo on Thursday July 16 at 7.30pm, Mary Poppins Returns on Friday at 6.30pm, a Grease sing along the day after on Saturday at 7:30pm and the Footloose on Sunday evening.

Constantine added: “We are going to be showing some classic movies for all the family to enjoy starting off with Dumbo."
