A GYM charity that helps vulnerable or isolated women has opened an outdoor gym after being forced to close because of the coronavirus crisis.

The Billy Project, which is based at Unit 2 Fitness for Women in Mill Hill, Blackburn, is a funded scheme which provides a safe space to meet new friends while tackling loneliness and social isolation, and protects women and families through safeguarding

Kerry Cameron from the project said: "We found that if mum is happy, this trickles down to the wider family and promotes a happier, healthier home.

"During lockdown The Billy Project moved all its services online and has provided a variety of workouts, fitness challenges and walking/running groups.

"The project also set up a telephone service for isolated females and is now offering small outdoor group sessions as well as the outdoor gym between 4.30pm and 9.00pm Monday to Friday."
