FURNESS Academy are inviting students and their families to join them in front of the school this morning as the cortege for the tragic Flynn family passes.

Students Coby-Jay, Skylar, and their dad Josh Flynn, were killed on Father's Day along with the family after being hit by a car.

The funeral will take place at 10.30am this morning.

The cortege is planned to pass the school at 9.55am to allow the students and staff to pay their respects to the Flynn family.

Furness Academy headteacher Mr Laheney said: "We recognise that this will be a very sad occasion and we will make provision for any students who need support from our staff in school.

"We hope that you will take this opportunity to show your support in our hope that Mrs Flynn will find some solace in our collective grief as she begins her heart breaking journey coming to terms with the loss of her family."

Live teaching has been cancelled for the day to respect the family and the wider school community.
