DETECTIVES investigating a 3am stabbing in Barrow said the victim is still recovering in hospital.

The victim, a man in his late teens, was said to be 'stable' and receiving treatment at the Royal Preston Hospital.

The incident happened in the Abbotsmead Approach area of Barrow just before 3am on Sunday.

Officers said they arrested a 17-year-old boy from Barrow after the teenager was stabbed in the leg by a knife or other bladed article.

The 17-year-old boy from Barrow arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent has been released under investigation.

Detectives have renewed their appeal for witnesses.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "The 17-year-old boy arrested has been released under investigation and the injured party is still in hospital.

"If you think you may have witnessed the incident or you were in the area around the time of the incident please get in touch with the police."
