A NEW nursery and creche is set to be installed in a landmark location in Bury.

Bosses at Welcome Nursery have confirmed the former post office building in Crompton Street will become their seventh location shortly.

Company director Linda Cuddy says the development - which has been registed as Welcome Nursery@ Crompton Street - will offer 205 childcare places on opening.

She told the Bury Times: "We have completed on this property and are busy renovating it for the opening of a children’s day nursery and soft play area."

"We are delighted with this nursery as it’s in a prominent town-centre position and has the potential to become central to the childcare community in Bury.

"We will also be offering a crèche facility on a Saturday for parents to drop their children off whilst they are shopping which will be fantastic for all parents .

Interviews are already said to have taken place with prospective staff and it is hoped the project will go live before the end of this month.

The same firm already operates nurseries in Blackburn, Preston, Leyland, under the Daisy Chain banner and two Cheeky Monkeys branded sites in Colchester.

Their most recent acquisition came last April, with the purchase of Little Footprints in Swinton.

Another three nursery acquisitions are said to be in the pipeline and close to completion.

Once the Bury venture is up and running, the outfit will be able to boast 700 childcare places across its reach.

Mrs Cuddy confirmed that Welcome has no connections with the previous operator, |Go Wild, which ceased trading earlier this year.

The prominent building, which was constructed at the end of the 19th century, offers accommodation over three floors.

Before it was redeveloped for Go Wild, the old post office had been vacant since the 1990s.
