EVEN with the uncertainty facing the housing market in light of the coronavirus pandemic, there is a huge gulf in the prices of houses between East Lancashire and London.
The cost of owning a home - or even a flat - has rocketed over the last two decades as London has become one of the most popular places to live in the world.
If you can afford it, the lifestyle London offers can be a compelling attraction.
But as increasing demand has pushed up prices, the difference in what you can get with your money outside of London can be staggering.
And none more so is this apparent than in East Lancashire.
So we've picked a house in Blackburn priced on the market for offers in the region of £210,000 and a flat in London costed at £230,000 - a whole £20,000 more expensive - and you'll be amazed at the difference.

The Blackburn home has an abudance of space, with a live-in kitchen and seperate lounge.
In the London property, the bed is located in the living room along with the dining room table and chairs.

And when it comes to outdoor space, the two just can't compare. The Blackburn property, which has a combination of decking and grass, also contains and impressive outbuilding home to a games room.
The London flat has now personal outdoor space, but residents can make use of a communal park.
