BURY North MP James Daly has answered a call for more personal protective equipment at borough mosques.

Mr Daly and his constituency office team worked to deliver PPE to a number of sites.

He said: "Every time we thought we had enough PPE, there was more need, and day by day, the need kept growing, I am certain all the mosques in Bury North, including the Defence Academy, will make good use of this PPE to help the faithful perform their individual prayers inside the mosque.

"I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end of the restrictions on congregational prayers."

Saqeb Raza of the Al-Madi Foundation said the "lifesaving equipment" would be delivered to those wishing to perform individual prayers.

Liaqat Ali, chairman of the Islamic Centre on Church Street, added: "I congratulate and thank James Daly MP for spearheading this heroic effort.

"Our mosques have not been receiving the PPE they so urgently needed”.

And Naz Khan, a member of the Noor Ul Islam Mosque said: "The small amount of PPE our mosque had in stock was running dangerously low. So, I want to thank Mr Daly for this delivery."
