ONE more patient has died at Royal Bolton Hospital after contracting coronavirus.
Figures published by NHS England yesterday afternoon showed the death of a patient on Wednesday had been linked to covid-19.
The borough’s hospital has now seen 221 deaths connected to the deadly virus.
This week, just four patients at the borough's hospital have died after contracting covid-19, with five patients dying with the virus in the week before.
Nationally, over 41,000 people have died after contracting coronavirus, with almost 293,000 cases of covid-19 confirmed.
A total of 1,039 people in the borough tested positive for the virus as of 9am on Thursday morning.
The drop in weekly deaths came as Uber announced that it will make face coverings mandatory for drivers and passengers across the UK from Monday.
The minicab app firm will be taking measures to keep everyone safe and healthy when they use the service, including sending over two million face masks and 54,000 units of cleaning spray to drivers and couriers.
Passengers and drivers will also be able to cancel a trip without charge if the other person isn't wearing a mask.
