THE death of a much-loved father and pizza delivery driver who was hit by a car is still being investigated, police have confirmed.

No charges have yet been brought after Umran Hussain Sodagar was mowed down on Manchester Road in Accrington, on February 2.

Following the incident, which happened around 5.50pm and involved a Peugeot 208, two 25-year-old men from Accrington were arrested on suspicion of causing Mr Sodagar's death by dangerous driving.

They were released under investigation on February 4.

No more details have been released in the four months since the collision in which the 40-year-old suffered fatal injuries, but police this week confirmed the investigation was ongoing.

At the time, police appealed for information and were particularly keen to trace the driver of a black BMW car, believed to have witnessed the incident.

Sgt Steve Hardman, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with Umran’s family and his friends at this sad and difficult time.

“While we made two arrests, we are keen to speak to any witnesses who might have seen what happened.

“Of note, we are keen to trace the driver of a black BMW, who is thought to have seen the incident.

“I would encourage anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.”

Following his tragic death, the family of Mr Sodagar, who lived in Accrington, paid tribute to the loving son, husband and father.

In a statement they said: "Umran was a loving son, husband and father, who put smiles on many faces, touched many hearts and will forever remain in those hearts.

"He was a friend to many and was best known for his positive energy and was always bringing people together.

"He was a believer of love and a man of good morals and principles.

"He will truly be missed and his legacy will remain – in his own words – Lancashire's finest. Umran, we love you."
