A 26-year-old man is set to appear in court on a fraud charge after allegedly stealing a purse containing debit cards from a car and then using them to buy items from various different shops.
In the early hours of Tuesday June 2, police officers in Blackburn were contacted about an incident, in which a purse and its contents had been stolen from a vehicle on Maricourt Avenue in the Intack area of the town.
Debit cards that were in the purse were then used to make transactions in a number of different shops.
After carrying out numerous enquiries, police arrested 26-year-old Damon Fielding of Infirmary Street, Blackburn.
Fielding was interviewed by police and was later charged with stealing from motor vehicles and fraud.
He has been remanded into custody and will appear in court on the next available date.
