Thousands of litres of hand sanitiser have been decanted and bottled by staff at Haslingden High School for the NHS frontline.
More than 4,000 litres of hand gel is ready to be sent off to health service staff after a callout for help from Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Groups.
The school’s staff and student also made 2,000 face visors during the lockdown.
Haslingden High School’s deputy headteacher, Russell Clarke, said: “Since the government announced the closures of schools for all but vulnerable students and those whose parents are key workers, we have been keen to support our NHS staff and key workers in any way possible.
“We were approached by Joanne Perry, a member of staff within the Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Groups, who was coordinating a vital project.
“As a school we felt that we could offer a suitable environment for the alcogel to be bottled and also a very willing and capable science team to oversee the process in school.
“We are delighted that these vital PPE resources will be making their way to those that need them most.”
