ONE more case of coronavirus has been recorded in the borough, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 1,207 people had been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19 by 9am Monday morning (June 1) in Wigan borough, up from 1,206 the same time on Sunday.

A week before, there were 1,157 cases.

It means the borough had a lower rate of increase than the UK as a whole for the 24-hour period.

There have been 25,723 cases recorded across the North West, a figure which rose by 86 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 276,332 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Monday, up from 274,762 at the same point on Sunday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show. As of 5pm on Sunday, 39,045 had died.
