THE Bolton News launched a #lockdownheroes campaign to showcase your community champions.

Each week we are shining the spotlight on those in the community who are doing a fantastic job whilst we stay at home and help fight the coronavirus.

We will be showcasing everyone on a weekly basis in the Lanashire Telegraph, in print and online so keep your nominations coming in.

Email your nominations to simone.okane@newsquest.co.uk.

Here's this week's community heroes:

Family fitness sessions are keeping spirits high

WE would like to nominate Chris and Sara Bramah of Bramah Fitness as The Bolton News #lockdownheroes.

During the lockdown period they have been unable to run their normal fitness and pilates sessions at the gym in Nortex Mill, Bolton.

Both have kept in touch with everyone through WhatsApp groups, phoned individuals to make sure they are ok and provided free sessions via YouTube to suit all the different levels and types of classes that they run.

This includes classes for children, mums, seniors and who might have limited mobility.

Although some clients have offered to pay for these classes, they have kept them free to encourage people to stay fit.

Their daughter Lyla also helps out in the YouTube sessions and helps to keep us all going.

It’s lovely to see the family working together helping out their community.

Thank you so much!Nominated by Graham Gough and Julie Bramwell.

Greengrocer still putting local first

THANKS so much to Nicola and Daniel Harvey of Bannisters Fruit and Veg, Bolton.

He is a great help and continues to provide outstanding service by delivering fresh fruit and vegetables to the customers he has in Bolton and Wigan.

The service is fantastic and the company offers free delivery to your door from the stall on Bolton Market.

Daniel and Nicola deliver excellent produce but he is also a real local hero and he is always encouraging people to shop locally, whether it is his shop or any other great family-owned shop in Bolton.

Shoppers who are in lockdown know that they can get trusted supplies if they can’t get to the market that is usually open to members of the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

He has a sign which reads: When you buy from a small business, you’re not helping a CEO build a third holiday home, you’re helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy his team jersey and mums and dads put food on the table. Shop Local.

This is a great approach to making people think a lot more about supporting local businesses. Thanks so much.

Volunteer appreciation

I WOULD like to nominate Conor Haslam from Alliance Learning.

Conor is currently on furlough from our organisation, but has spent his time shopping and then packing up little bags and actually been delivering the shopping to people in need in his local community in Astley Bridge.

He has taken everything in his stride and found time to help others whilst he is not in work at the moment.

Alex is so kind-hearted and he has actually bought the shopping for the elderly out of his own money.

This is such a lovely thing to do and he deserves recognition for being a #lockdownhero.

Well done Conor from all of the team at Alliance Learning, based in Horwich Business Park we are extremely proud of you.

Keep up the good work Alex you are great.

Hardworking Alex

I WOULD like to nominate my hubby-to-be, Alex Clare.

We both work for the NHS and times are difficult but this man still goes to work and does his TNA course at the hospital and also still studies hard and goes to university.

Within this lockdown he has kept our spirits up even though his stag do and my hen do has been cancelled and possibly our wedding if we can’t celebrate later this year.

Alex has most definitely been my rock through all of this, he is one in a million.

Thank you Alex, I love you - nominated by fiancee, Cherie Heathcoat.
