POLICE in Nelson have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after a man in his 60s was found dead at a property in Fir Street.

Officers were called at around 3.25pm yesterday where the older man was found to be unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death was treated as suspicious and officers then arrested a man, in his 30s, on suspicion of murder.

Lancashire Police's Detective Chief Inspector Lee Wilson said:"A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Nelson.

"My thoughts are very much with the man involved and his family at this tragic and very difficult time.

"While we have made an arrest, we would appeal to anyone with information or who feels they can assist with our enquiries to come forward."

An investigation is under way and enquiries are ongoing.
