AN inquest has opened into the death of a Bury man.

Kenneth Power, 54, of Gorse Bank, Bury, died at his home address on December 23, 2019.

Unemployed Mr Power, was born in Ireland and was single at the time of his death.

At Rochdale Coroner's Court, police coroner's officer, Jane Scullion, said Mr Power was Type 1 diabetic and may not have been taking his insulin.

He was living in a bedsit in shared accommodation for the two months before his death and was found unresponsive on his bed by his housemate.

A journal and a pen were found nearby, with the final entry in the journal indicating suicidal intentions.

An empty packet of prescribed medication was also found on a bedside table.

Police attended and ruled out any suspicious circumstances.

A post-mortem found the cause of death to be a combined drug toxicity.

Coroner Catherine McKenna set a review date for June 25, 2020, with a full inquest to take place at a later date.
