MORE than £4,500 has been raised for two East Lancashire hospices by ambulance workers Matt Cornall and colleagues Yvette Browne, Felicity Gee and Phil Evans.

Matt has supported East Lancashire Hospice in Blackburn for many years after his grandma used the services.

He said: “I had been planning to do something along the lines of a sponsored head shave but never got round to organising it. When the outbreak of the coronavirus occurred I learned that East Lancashire Hospice were beginning to struggle to raise funds in their normal way.

“It got me thinking that there was no better time than the present to shave my head and raise as much money as I could. A couple of my colleagues then got involved and it snowballed."

The current total stands at £4,561.53 altogether. Matt, Yvette and Felicity all raised money for East Lancashire Hospice and Phil has supported Pendleside Hospice.

Income generation lead at East Lancs Hospice, Sharon Crymble, said, “We know times are difficult for so many at the moment and we want to assure everyone that we are continuing to provide care to our patients, and the money raised by people like Matt and his colleagues are helping us to do this. This was a great surprise for us and we are over the moon at the fantastic amount raised.”
