Latest figures from the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England published on Thursday show the total number of people to have tested positive in Blackburn with Darwen is now standing at 95 compared to yesterday's figure of 92.

The news comes after seven more people were reported to have died in East Lancashire Hospitals due to the virus, with the death toll now standing at 23.

Lancashire's confirmed cases have also increased to 1,111 which is up by 85 on the previous days statistics of 1,026.

Blackpool's total now stands at 98 compared to 94 yesterday.

This brings the total confirmed cases of coronavirus in Lancashire as a whole, to 1,304 compared to 1,212 on Wednesday.

There have now been 7,339 confirmed cases in the North West, and 54,554 in England.

As of 9am on April 9, of those tested, 65,077 people in the UK have tested positive for the virus, this is up 4,344 on Wednesday's total of 60,733.

As of 5pm on April 8, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 7,978 people have sadly died, an increase of 881 on yesterday's figures of 7,097.
