THE North-West Association of Directors of Adult Social Services has launched a campaign to recruit thousands of adult social care workers during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Councils across the region have seen a reduction in staff of between 25 and 50 per cent due to Covid-19.

Now the association is recruiting for key roles including residential and domiciliary care workers, cleaners and cooks.

Roles will vary but typically employees would be required to work in care homes or people’s houses and would carry out tasks such as personal care, supporting vulnerable people to undertake activities, and meal preparation.

Sayyed Osman, Blackburn with Darwen Council's social care director said: “There is an opportunity for people who have the skills that can be diversified with training to work with us to support the urgent need across adult social care.

“With one in four workers likely to be furloughed there is a huge number of people with skills that would be greatly valued within adult social care right now. These are incredibly fulfilling and rewarding roles.
