A MAN who coughed at a police officer has been sentenced to 14 weeks in prison by Manchester magistrates.
Antony Crawley, aged 28, of Spencer Street, Bury, pleaded guilty to assaulting the officer in Bury on April 2.
The court was told that the offence was so serious because it involved a cough in the current pandemic, Crawley had been drinking and he had a a previous conviction.
In addition to the prison sentence, he was ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge.
