AN UNINSURED driver stopped on the M65 gave his brother's details to police.

Blackburn magistrates heard the deception quickly came to light after Jack Taylor confessed what he had done to his brother Daniel who promptly rang the police.

Taylor, 28, of Allerton Drive, Burnley, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and without insurance and causing wasteful employment of police time.

He was fined £300 with £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge and his licence endorsed with eight penalty points.

Peter King, defending, said everything had “come out in the wash” very quickly.

“He told his brother he had stupidly given his details, his brother told the police and the charade was shortlived,” said Mr King

“What he did went beyond obstructing a police officer but fell short of attempting to pervert the course of justice.”
