A YOUTH convicted of twice carrying knives in public has been given an intensive supervision order.

The 15-year-old from Stretford, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was first caught by police with a 20-cm long blade at Manchester Piccadilly station on February 15, Manchester Youth Court was told.

He already had a previous conviction for carrying a knife at Manchester Victoria station, the court heard.

Three weeks later he was detained while carrying a kitchen knife and cannabis in the city's St Peters' Square.

Magistrates also imposed a three-month curfew.
