HEADTEACHER of a Blackburn primary school has spoken of her pride after Ofsted found it no longer requires improvement and marked it as good.

St Aidan’s CE Primary Academy was graded as good in all areas.

Inspectors found that “leaders have transformed the school” and “staff have high expectations for all pupils”.

Pupils were said to be happy at school and have “good attitudes to learning”.

Ofsted reported: “Pupils now achieve well across the full range of national curriculum subjects Their work in history, science, mathematics, reading and writing shows how much the quality of education has improved.”

Inspectors added: “Staff have high expectations for all pupils.”

Headteacher Debbie Greenwood said “I am extremely proud of our school and all that we have achieved together. The report recognises the incredible progress we have made since our last inspection and celebrates the great work that happens in school every day.

“Our dedicated staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that the children at St Aidan’s best possible education in a caring and nurturing environment.”

Cidari Multi Academy Trust ­—which governs the school ­— chief executive Peter Ashworth added: “ This is fantastic and well deserved. Since the previous inspection in 2017, Mrs Greenwood and her team have reinvigorated an Academy that is thriving, welcoming, inclusive and delivers the best opportunities for all it’s pupils.

"Over two days the inspectors witnessed and acknowledged excellent practice in a caring and friendly school community. This judgement is an affirmation of the effort and commitment by all the staff, pupils, governors and parents to raise standards and deliver the best possible education, outcomes, and life opportunities for our children.

“This inspection is the seventh consecutive good judgement across our Cidari family of academies. It reflects the culture and ethos of a trust which recognises the distinctiveness and individuality of each of our academies, whilst delivering excellence by fostering strong collaboration, improvement and innovation through shared values.”
