A leap-year baby is celebrating her 60th birthday today, despite only having had 15 'real birthdays'.

Michelle Fairclough, who is the third of five children, was born on the 29 February 1960, meaning her actual birthday only comes around every four years.

However, for a special 60th birthday treat Mrs Fairclough's mother Jean Moss got in touch with The Bolton News as the birth was featured in the paper on that same day.

Mrs Moss said: "I remember she was lovely, a pretty little baby, and still is.

"With new babies, it's always joyful and exciting.

"I was in labour for 22 hours. She was born at twenty minutes past eight in the morning. She wanted to be famous."

The Bolton News:

Mrs Fairclough, usually celebrates her birthday on the 28 February or on the 1 March, depending on how she feels, although her mother argues that she was never here on the 28 anyway.

For her big birthday she's arranged lots of plans to celebrate, particularly as it has landed on such a special day this year.

Mrs Fairclough said: "Normally I celebrate it on either day, it's more the children who make the fuss.

"This year there's 15 of us going for a family meal and my daughter's also taken me for afternoon tea.

"I'll be going somewhere on Monday too, which is a surprise.

"I've had lots of presents from my grandchildren, like cupcakes, pictures and beautiful flowers. It's all very special."

The 60-year-old lives on a Brookbottom Farm in Radcliffe with her husband Stewart Fairclough and their three Rottweilers, which she says help her feel more like 15 years old than 60.

She said: "I do feel special. I am enjoying being spoilt, being a farmer's wife you don't get spoilt very often.

"Even my husband is excited and he's not usually a birthday person.

"You are only as old as you feel. You've just got to keep going, keep walking those dogs."
