Fairtrade fortnight is underway in Bolton, with a pop-up event this weekend looking to show that the town is still committed to fairtrade.

Bolton's fairtrade shop Justicia is running a pop-up shop in the Market Place on Saturday February 29 from 10am to 4pm.

The stall will offering a range of fairtrade products and chocolate to sample, with the volunteers dressed in banana suits.

Gareth Leatham, Bolton's Fairtrade Coordinator, said: "These events are important for raising awareness to what we do as a small group.

"They show the people of Bolton what we have to offer and the importance of fairtrade to the rest of the world."

"It's a challenge but without a doubt these events do a great deal."

The Bolton fairtrade group work very closely with the council, with Bolton one of the first towns to be officially declared a fairtrade town in 2002.
