It really was the end of the line for two diesel-electric locomotives which were set to be turned into scrap in Bolton in 1968. The two green shunters were in a siding off Crescent Road and were about to be dismantled. Lawrence Hatton (pictured), a director of William Hatton and Sons, from Bolton which was undertaking the work said it would take around two weeks to dismantle each engine.
