A weather warning for rain has been issued for East Lancashire across the next few days.

This yellow warning adds to a previous yellow warning for rain for the region on Saturday.

The Met Office has said the rain warning has started today and will carry on into 6am on Saturday.

The wind warning is in place from 6am on Saturday to 10pm.

A further rain warning has also been issued for East Lancashire on Monday, with heavy showers predicted from 3am to 3pm.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely.

"Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.

"Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.

"Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely.

"Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.

"It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and large waves."
