THE Oldham Tinkers will be making an emotional return to the Grange Theatre, almost 50 years after their first appearance at the venue.
In the summer of 1965 a chance meeting between John Howarth and the brothers Larry and Gerry Kearns saw the beginning of years of fun and music
They have performed for the Queen and been championed by DJs John Peel and Andy Kershaw. Recently the band have been asked to appear alongside the likes of Eliza Carthy at Cecil Sharp House to celebrate 80 years of Topic Records.
Grange manager, Laura Purdey said: “We are thrilled to have them back after all these years and it promises to be an evening of Lancastrian dry wit and song with lashings of humour to spare.”
The Oldham Tinkers, Grange Theatre, Oldham, Saturday, March 14. Details from www.grangetheatre.co.uk or 0333 666 3366
