A FORMER Staples store in Bolton town centre could be home to three new retailers.

Unit 4 at Trinity Retail Park, which was last occupied by Office Outlet, would be subdivided to create three smaller independent units if the changes go ahead.

A planning application for these changes, alongside a new front entrance and loading doors at the back, has been submitted to Bolton Council on behalf of Chester Halo Ltd.

Richard Gee, director of Roman Summer Associates, who prepared the plans, claimed that there has already been some interest from businesses looking to move in.

But he did not reveal which retailers would occupy the three smaller three units in his letter to the local authority.

He said: "The premises have been widely marketed and although no interest has been shown from potential occupiers in taking the unit as a whole, a number of parties have expressed interested in occupying in part.

"Of these potential occupiers, some require an element of retail, showroom and trade counter, whereas others are from the leisure sector.

"All such interest would therefore be subject to receipt of planning permission of change of use."

The current unit has been empty since June 2019 when Office Outlet vacated the property.

Last year, Arnold Clark opened a car dealership in the former Toys R Us site on Trinity Retail Park.
