PLANS for seven new homes have been approved despite opposition from people living nearby.

Rossendale Council’s development control committee gave the green light for a scheme to build homes on land off Goodshawfold Road, Loveclough, Rossendale.

Eleven objections were received, raising concerns about ecology, proximity to homes, flooding, increased traffic and loss of privacy.

Case officer James Dalgleish said: “The development would provide seven new dwellings towards the borough’s recognised housing need."

A spokesman for Peter Bowen of Bowsall Developments said: “The scheme is surrounded by a residential neighbourhood. It is also adjacent to a residential area along Burnley Road.

“The site is within close proximity to local amenities including Bright Futures Nursery and Crawshawbooth Primary School. It is understood that the site has been assessed as a potential housing allocation within the council’s emerging Local Plan."
