VOLUNTEERS across Bury will be able to access new training on suicide prevention.

New monthly courses are being delivered by professionals who are working to reduce the number of deaths by suicide in the borough.

On average there 18 suicide deaths every year in Bury — more than three-quarters of them men.

The free three-hour sessions are designed to give an insight into suicide at local and national level, provide tools to help volunteers to identify those at risk of suicide, and share practical advice for how to support those who may be feeling suicidal.

The first training session took place in December at Radcliffe-based Early Break.

The next training will be held at the Samaritans Bury branch in Knowsley Street on Wednesday, January 29, between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Limited places are available. To register your interest, email info@earlybreak.co.uk.
