UNLIMITED holidays, six-hour working days and pay reviews every six months — it may seem like a dream, but it is the reality for workers at a Bolton digital marketing firm.

Employees at The Audit Lab, based in Chorley New Road, are able to have an extra glass of wine or stay out for a celebratory drink if they so desire, as a policy is in place to enable them to work from the comfort of their own home.

The 'hangover policy’, which has been in place for around 12 months is described by director Lee Frame as a “self-policed” scheme.

He said: “If you work in an office, you have to ring up and cough and pretend you’re ill. But with social media everywhere these days, a friend of a friend could share a picture that your boss sees of you on a night out.

“We let people have the days off if they’ve been with clients or had an extra drink after the pub quiz. It’s self-policed. No-one wants to lose it so they don’t overuse it.

"If they weren’t hitting targets or meeting goals we’d talk to them. But, it doesn’t happen and hasn’t happened.”

The Audit Lab currently only has a small team, although future growth is on the cards.

The company was founded in 2017 and provides advice and expertise to companies on a range of digital topics.

In addition to the holiday and days off policy, flexi-time is a big-hit at the company, which is hoping to enable more people to work from home in the future.

Ellie Entwistle, the senior digital PR manager for the company, said: “It’s used when it’s needed, whether you’re out with clients or friends and have a drink too many.

"I’ve used it five times this this year."

Mr Frame added that the scheme was also a way to give back easy-to-get days off to non-parents, enabling workers to get days off which they need.

He said the company's policies were a way to attract new staff.

He added that the company has to differentiate themselves "to try to attract talent away from Manchester".
