A TEENAGER who drove after drinking more than double the legal level of alcohol has been banned from the roads for 18 months. Ellie Plant, aged 19, of Lea Mount Drive, Bury, was caught driving a VW Polo on Grassmere Drive, Bury, on October 26. A breath test read 86 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes. Plant, who pleaded guilty, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £117 in costs and charges by Manchester magistrates.

A DRIVER who left the scene after being involved in a crash on Cockey Moor Road, Bury, on June 22 has been given a suspended prison sentence by Manchester magistrates. The court heard how Giovanni Oliviero, aged 31, of Ramsey Grove, Bury, failed to take a breath test after the collision. Oliviero, who was driving a Renault Clio, initially denied committing the offence, but then changed his plea to guilty and also admitted careless driving and failing to stop after an accident. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and participate in 15 days of a drink impaired programme. In addition he was banned from driving for 12 months and must pay a total of £465 in costs and charges.

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for 12 months after he was caught having drunk double the legal level of alcohol. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Lukaz Plizga, aged 37, of Calder Walk, Whitefield, admitted committing the offence when he was driving a Citroen on Canal Bank, Eccles, on October 26. As well as the driving ban, he was fined £280 and ordered to pay £117 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £400 after he was caught in possession of cannabis on October 14. Zach Trott, aged 24, of Crompton Road, Stoneclough, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and was also ordered to pay £125 in costs and charges.

A MAN who assaulted two people and damaged glass in a front door has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Patryk Babkiewicz, aged 24, of Wash Lane, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on November 9 and December 1. He was also ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities, pay a total of £700 in compensation and £175 in costs and

charges.

A WOMAN who had drunk almost double the legal level of alcohol allowed for driving has been sentenced to do 200 hours of unpaid work. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Sima Karim, aged 40, of Marquis Avenue, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on September 21 when she drove a VW Golf in Lever Street, Manchester. Karim was banned from driving for 42 months, must participate in eight days of rehabilitation activities and pay £215 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have banned a man from driving for six months after he was caught speeding on the East Lancs Road on March 12. Chris Thair, aged 42, of Willow Road, Prestwich, was caught doing 56mph in a 40mph limit near Mosley Common Road in a Toyota.Thair, who has previous motoring convictions, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and in addition to the ban, was fined £346 plus £119 in costs and charges.
