A VAN driver led police on a chase through Westhoughton after ramming one of their vehicles.
The man driving the vehicle was flagged down by police after going through a no-entry sign this evening (Monday) but he refused to stop.
Instead he rammed a police van and tried to flee from officers.
In a tweet, a GMP spokesman said the driver had lead police on a "pursuit around Westhoughton".
However, officers were able to call in help from an emergency service helicopter and eventually stopped the driver using a 'stinger' - a metal spike strip which pops the tyres on vehicles.
The driver abandoned the van but was then caught by officers with the help of those in the helicopter above.
