A DRUNKEN woman bit a police officer and a bar doorman after downing 10 pints of beer plus shots of vodka.

Bolton magistrates heard how Phoebe Park, who claimed she had been drinking because she spilt up with her partner, was aggressive and abusive after being approached by Abdul Bilal and Moosa Ali, doormen at the Northern Way bar in Nelson Square.

Steve Woodman, prosecuting, told the court how Mr Bilal and Mr Ali were on duty at 3.30pm on Sunday November 17 when they spotted a couple walking along Bradshawgate with the woman carrying a full glass of beer.

Mr Bilal told her she could not walk on the streets with her drink and she became abusive, hurling the glass at him.

It missed and smashed on the ground.

A minute later he saw the woman arguing with another man.

"He felt it best, even though they weren't bothering him and his colleagues in the bar he was working in, to go and split them up," said Mr Woodman.

But as he tried to intervene 25-year-old Park lashed out at Mr Bilal's BMW parked nearby, kicking and damaging its bumper and side panel.

Park then repeatedly punched Mr Bilal and kicked out at his colleague Mr Ali, catching him in the face.

When Mr Bilal grabbed Park she bit his finger, causing the skin to break.

Police arrived to arrest Park, who arrested her and put her in the back of a police van.

"She became violent and abusive," said Mr Woodman, who added Park complained that her handcuffs were too tight.

"One of the officers, PC Hussain, got into the back of the van to try and relieve the pressure on her wrists from these cuffs and whilst the officer was doing so she proceeded to assault him by biting his forearm."

Park, of Chorley Road, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, criminal damage and assaulting a police officer.

The Bolton News:

When interviewed by police Park said she had drunk 10 pints of beer and shots of vodka and cannot remember the incidents. None of the victims was badly hurt.

Stephen Munton, defending, stressed that Park, who has no previous convictions, is remorseful.

"On the day in question she had split from her partner and as a result, had drunk to excess," he said.

"This is a one-off incident she does not want to see repeated in the future."

Park was said to be "utterly ashamed" of her behaviour.

Magistrates sentenced her to a 12 month community order and ordered her to undertake 120 hours of unpaid work.

She must also participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities , pay each of her victims £50 in compensation plus a further £250 to Mr Bilal for his car repair and a £90 victim surcharge.

Chairman of the bench, Scott Cowap, told her: "It was an appalling series of events.

"You can't remember the incident but clearly you heard about it in sufficient detail to be ashamed of it."
