TWO schools were given the nod at the town hall this week for their proposals.

Moorgate Primary School is set to get a new play area and a single-storey extension subject to a consultation with Sport England.

The planning committee voted to delegate the decision to a council director to allow time for the public body to comment on the proposal.

Plans for a new security fence, 2.4 metres in height, to be erected around playing fields at Sharples Primary School were also given the go ahead this week.

Cllr John Walsh noted objections from residents but said school safety comes first. He said: "School security dictates that measures are taken."
