A BLACKBURN boxer has thanked his supporters and sponsors ahead of the ‘biggest fight of his life.’

Omar Dusary, 25, will be fighting on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jnr rematch in Saudi Arabia this Saturday.

Britain’s Joshua is looking to reclaim his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO world titles against Mexican Ruiz who stopped him last time out in one of the sport’s biggest shocks.

Unbeaten Omar, who has a record of seven wins and one draw in his professional career, is being supported by Blackburn tissue company Star Tissue UK.

He said: “It has been an incredible journey and I hope to make the town proud. I am really thankful to Star Tissue UK for supporting me.

“They are proud of Blackburn and do a lot for their town. By sponsoring me, this proves that they are a company who wants to give something back into the community.

“Huge thanks also to my other supporters DPM Security, Shaz Khan, IH & A Law, Better Bodies and Ivy Street Community Centre.”

Omar is up against Saudi Arabian Zuhair Al Qahtani for the Lightweight Middle East Championship.

Sajid Ditta, boss of Star Tissue, said: “It is great to see Blackburn being represented on what could be a historic night for British boxing. We are happy to back local sporting talent in any way we can.”

Omar came to the UK from the Kuwait at the age of 12 and couldn’t speak a word of English. He studied and went on to graduate in electronic engineering at university.

Looking ahead to the fight, Omar said: “Throughout my professional career, I have fought people of different age, culture and race. Regardless of what nationality, race or creed you follow we all bleed red.

“I feel as though boxing has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. When I enter a sports arena it is reassuring that the majority of people look beyond my skin colour and judge me on my boxing.

“It does not matter who you are or where you’ve come from as long as both fighters are breathing it’s all that matters. Winning is a bonus but boxing teaches us respect.

“I would like to thank everyone from all different areas who have helped me reach where I am today.”
