MADE some festive plans that involve a late night drive along the M62?

While work will continue to take place over the next few weeks, the good news is there will be no overnight closures over the festive period to spoil your Christmas plans. 

Highways England has confirmed the M62 will be closure-free between December 20 and January 2. 

In the meantime, if you have spotted a matrix sign during your commute along the M62 and now can't remember the dates we have this guide for you.

Overnight closures have been a regular occurrence while smart motorway work takes place between Croft Interchange and Eccles (junctions 10 to 12).

All the roadworks generally take place between 10pm and 6am (apart from those marked as starting at 9pm) and there will be diversions in place.

Overnight M62 closures in December are as follows:

December 2 - Eastbound junction 11 - 12 and westbound junction 10 sliproad from 9pm

December 3 - Eastbound junction 11 - 12 and westbound junction 10 sliproad from 9pm

December 4 - Eastbound junction 11 - 12 from 9pm

December 5 - Eastbound junction 11 - 12 and westbound junction 10 sliproad from 9pm

December 6 - Eastbound junction 11 - 12 and westbound junction 10 sliproad from 9pm

December 7 - No closures

December 8 - No closures

December 9 - Eastbound junction 10 - 12

December 10 - Eastbound junction 10 - 12

December 11 - Eastbound junction 10 - 12

December 12 - Eastbound junction 10 - 12

December 13 - Closures in both directions

December 14 - Closures in both directions

December 15 - Eastbound junction 10 - 12

December 16 - Closed both directions

December 17 - Closed both directions

December 18 - Closed both directions

December 19 - Closed both directions

There will be no overnight closures after December 19 until January 2.

Highways England warns all closures are subject to change and closures will be reduced where possible depending on the programme and weather.
