TWO football fans have been banned from attending home and away games after setting off a flare.

The Blackburn Rovers supporters – one adult and one child – were handed a three-year club ban after a pyrotechnic device was set off in the Blackburn End stand during the club’s recent home game against Huddersfield.

The fans were swiftly dealt with by both police and Blackburn Rovers, and in accordance with the EFL’s Pyrotechnics Charter, they have been handed three-year club bans.

This means they cannot attend games at Ewood Park or away from home.

The adult is due to appear before a court in the New Year.

A spokesperson for Rovers stated: “Pyrotechnic devices are potentially dangerous and, as such, are prohibited by regulations.

“Blackburn Rovers have a zero tolerance of the use of such devices and will take strong action against any person bringing or attempting to bring in or using pyrotechnics at Ewood Park.”
