A TEENAGER died after crashing into a barrier in a tragic motorcycle accident while on a family holiday.

Muhammad Najm-ul-Saqlain Aziz, of Gladstone Road, Farnworth, had been visiting family in Pakistan when the horrific incident occurred last month.

An inquest into the teenager’s death was opened at Bolton Coroner’s Court on November 22.

Police Coroners Officer Stefan Wilson told the court that the 19-year-old had gone on a motorcycle ride with his nephew while on a trip to stay with family in the northern Pakistani city of Jhelum on October 31.

As Mr Aziz was riding the bike he lost control and careered into a barrier which led to him suffering traumatic brain injuries and a cardiac arrest, the court heard.

His nephew, who was not named during the hearing, also suffered serious injuries.

Following the crash Mr Aziz was rushed to the Government Civic Hospital before being transferred to the Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital.

Sadly, however, the teenager’s condition declined and and he died on Wednesday, November 13.

A statement released by Bolton Council of Mosques (BCOM) on behalf of the family said: “We have made contact with the family and the family are currently grieving from losing their loved one.

“It is nothing more than a tragic accident and the family wishes to be left alone to come to terms with what has happened and respectfully request privacy at this time.”

A BCOM spokesman added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”

On Friday, Coroner Alan Walsh told the court that he accepted the cause of death registered by the Pakistani authorities and noted that he felt no post mortem examination in the UK was necessary.

Mr Walsh added Mr Aziz’s family were “content” with the paperwork and processes and had raised no concerns.

He then adjourned the hearing for a full inquest on December 20.
