A TOWN centre pub which is set to install a new slot machine in response to rising demand has said that gambling makes up a "tiny" part of its profits.
This comes after the Northern Way in Nelson Square was granted a licence for a third gaming machines by the council.
The new machine will have a maximum stake of £1 with a maximum prize of £100.
Diana Freeman is the compliance manager for Amber Taverns, the Blackpool-based company which owns the pub.
She said: "Machines represent a tiny part of turnover, roughly three per cent. The new generation of digital machines do offer a great variety of games and are part of the overall pub experience for some of our customers.
"It is in a controlled environment where children are not allowed."
