A NEW commercial development has been given the go ahead by the council.
The building in Haslam Street is set to be transformed into a hairdressers, cafe and restaurant on the ground floor with a tattoo studio on the first floor.
The end-terraced property was last used as a Five Star Hair and Beauty which is closed.
A total of 13 objections have been received, including one from Cllr Sandra Walmsley.
The planning committee raised their own concerns about opening times of the cafe.
Cllr Jackie Harris suggested reducing the trading hours so that the cafe would not be open past 8pm in the week and 9pm on weekends.
Councillors rejected her proposal but another condition relating to noise insulation was agreed.
The committee approved the plan with another new condition which prohibits businesses from using outdoor seating.
