EAGLE-eyed viewers spotted a familiar road on Coronation Street on Monday.

Michelle Connor, played by Kym Marsh, was seen on the phone to cheating fiancé Robert Preston, played by Tristan Gemmill, as he drove along the A666 in Darwen — doubling up as Macclesfield road.

The love-rat had just been to see Vicky Jefferies, who he has been having an affair with.

As Michelle talks to Robert, he glances at his phone and crashes into a lorry. Robert is left unconscious as Michelle is still on the phone to him.

BwD Roads posted a clip from the episode on their Facebook page and wrote: “For those Coronation Street fans out there...did you recognise the location of Robert’s crash in last night's episode?”

One said: “Can’t believe I missed the filming of this, I live only 5 minutes away.”

A post on BwD Roads' Facebook page said: "For those who took a guess on our earlier post...we can reveal that filming for this scene took place on Stones Bank Road, Darwen on 18th September.

"A number of departments across the Council worked closely with Coronation Street to allow filming to take place and in a safe environment.

"It was a bit touch and go at one point as we had some unfortunate flytipping the day prior to filming!

"A few of our fantastic followers on BwD Roads asked us if there was something going on at Stones Bank Road as Lancashire Police had the road closed - finally here is your answer.

"Coronation Street also kindly paid for some road-marking renewals at junctions and some additional lining down the middle of Stones Bank Road 👍🏻

"Coronation Street is not the only ones to have filmed there recently...watch this space for more on that."
