Two fire crews attended The Mall in Blackburn as three people were trapped in a lift.
One engine was parked on Church Street and another was on Higher Church Street attending the incident.
Crew manager Stuart Roxburgh said: "We got a call at 3.30pm to reports of three people trapped in a lift in the Debenhams store.
"They had been stuck for five of 10 minutes up to then.
"Two of the people were diabetic but we managed to get them all out. They were in the lift for 45 minutes.
"They were okay and had tea and cake and were not hurt."
