Heroin has been found dumped on an area of grass in Breightmet.
GMP Bolton North posted on social media that PCSOs were approached by a member of the public this morning who told them that they had seen someone dump a package on the grass.
The officers went to investigate and recovered what is believed to be heroin.
Writing on Facebook, Greater Manchester Police said: "Just after 9:10am this morning, Police Community Support Officers were on foot patrol around the Breightmet area.
"A member of the public passed information to them on the street that they had seen someone dump a package on some grass.
"The officers went to investigate and recovered what is believed to be a quantity of heroin."
They added: "If you have any information regarding drug supply in your area, contact the Bolton North Neighbourhood Policing team on 0161 856 5761, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
